Became familiar with Phil during a Virtual Conference of the Confraternity of Pilgrims to Rome
He talked about what a Pilgrim is . . .
A Pilgrimage on foot (different from other sorts of Pilgrimages)
Grounded, on foot, challenges, exertion, discovery, transformation, conversion
(depending on the kindness of strangers)
Phil has authored two books: Rome Alone and The Dusty Roads of History (https://www.pilgrimways.org.uk/people)

Strangers
The word “pilgrim,” after all, originates from the Latin word “peregrinus,” meaning “foreigner” or “stranger.” What is different about the pilgrim, however, is their openness to what is foreign. Instead, it is engaging the unfamiliar and welcoming the stranger that invigorates the pilgrim, pushing them toward the growth that they might not otherwise experience in everyday life. https://www.asacredjourney.net/hospitality/
