The Week of Lost Items

This makes me re-consider how I secure important items when I travel

Due to the frigid weather, I wore many layers
So, when I left mass abruptly after the eucharist to pick-up pizza, I left my gloves and hat in the seats
Later in the club room I shed my inner windbreaker and eventually left it when I left
Ken notified me of my windbreaker
The security station in the Cathedral still had my gloves and hat Thursday morning
And then I left my whole messenger bag on the CTA Red Line Train
I had taken it off to gear-up, put on my bike jacket and helmet and moved my bike off the train
As I later enter Jewel, I noticed that I wasn’t wearing my bike bag . . .

What did I lose, what was my plan, who do I contact and how (without a phone)
I notified the sisters and mom
I sent emails to the CTA, but didn’t feel very satisfied with the available communication
Lost and Found is not a pressing issue, I lost my phone, is not a big deal
I was able to track my phone moving towards the southern terminus of the red line
So, I went to AT&T, and eventually decided to file a claim
-was going to just upgrade to better unit, but there would be no trade-in (and the process did not seem tranparent)
-decided to file a lost claim (with my insurance) a receive a replacement at work the next day
What about the other things
-the other phone, my keys, my bible
-in the whole scheme of things these did not bother me, I could do nothing about it, why worry
-trying to retrieve bag
-mail box key

Write It Off

(but, is this a sign of something, or is it just cold weather, something that could always happen, and finally happens all at once)
