Sichuan takins (Gobi Desert and steppes of Central and East Asia) are related to goats and sheep. They have an ox-like build with stout front limbs, hairy muzzles, and a distinctive, bulbous nose with large sinus cavities. They weight up to 750 pounds and are between 5.5–7.5 feet long, standing 3.5–4.5 feet tall at the shoulder
Bactrian camels (Kenya and Ethiopia) are large, desert-dwelling animals with two humps (dromedary camels have one). Mature Bactrian camels can be 7 feet tall and weigh 1,800 pounds. Bactrian camels have been domesticated for thousands of years as pack animals. Less than 1,000 wild Bactrian camels (the only truly wild camels left) still exist.
Grevy’s zebras (Kenya and Ethiopia) are the largest type of zebra, standing 4–5 feet tall at the shoulder and weighing 770–950 pounds
Fewer than 2,000 mature individuals reside within a small, fractured range, making Grevy’s zebras the world’s most threatened zebra species (ENDANGERED)
