But, there are no reasonable, affordable options

Unless I qualify for subsidized medicaid (which some homes are structured for, I get a much better-buy somewhere else
Consider simplfying, downsizing (with opens other options)
More and more, I did not want to be the guy in a retirement center, with a sub-par staff watching over me
Then later, you can take your time and find the perfect spot

So, your strategy will be to STAY OUT OF A RETIREMENT HOME as long as you can
